Life changing decisions or transitions are rarely made overnight. They are usually the result of conversations both with God and trusted friends or family. They usually involve asking yourself some pretty tough questions and measuring up the pros and cons of both decisions. In our case, it has been a 3 year process. We had made this decision before. We wanted to love on little ones in tough situations not of their making. We wanted to provide hope and wholeness to innocent children in broken situations. We wanted to be foster parents. We had it all planned out until we were faced with our own life changing moment. Our youngest son's sickness and long hospital stay turned our world upside down. It was the hardest thing our family has ever faced and I honestly felt worn down and empty. I had given all I had both mentally and spiritually and was physically tired. God healed our son and he was able to come home, but our plans of becoming a foster family would become a distant thought as we strived to achieve normalcy in our family again. Fast forward 3 years and things are looking a lot different. Our little guy is happy and healthy and so is our family. I can still remember every single detail like it was yesterday. The right picture or memory can bring back a wave of tears and emotions, but God is able to heal, strengthen and restore the hurt and broken hearted. This is the truth we want to pass on to others. This is the calling that God has put in our hearts and ready or not we are jumping in with both feet. In a time where my husband and I felt completely helpless, we were always full of hope. Only Jesus can offer peace in the darkest times. A peace that passes all understanding. And we will hold on to this peace in our next journey. God started preparing our hearts years ago, but in October 2017 we finally took the first step and sent in our paperwork to become a licensed foster family. We have had our first home visit and are registered to start our classes very soon! The time is now. "Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7
